What are sustainable and innovative pathways to a desirable future? How do you bring complex area developments to a successful conclusion? Or design calming places?
This Yearbook of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design in the Netherlands presents 22 outstanding projects: park designs with intriguing combinations of land art, history and music, residential neighbourhoods with a clever mix of old and new, a unique court case to defend the rights of the North Sea, and a critical reflection on temporary housing for refugees. Other projects address current issues in rural areas, such as biobased crops and the principle of ‘soil and water based planning’. And, as always, the book features superb designs for prominent locations such as Stationseiland in Amsterdam, the Lebuinus squares in Deventer and the core zone of De Hoge Veluwe National Park.
This Yearbook was compiled by the editors of Blauwe Kamer landscape architecture magazine. The projects were selected by an independent committee of professional peers.
Yearbook Landscape architecture and Urban Design 2023 received financial support from Creative Industries Fund NL, Chief Government Architect and Advisors and the NHBOS foundation.
