This year's final issue, cahier #3, focuses on three projects in rugged, Norwegian nature. In Torghatten, a granite dome on the Nordic island of Torget, Østengen & Bergo designed a beautiful hiking trail towards its famous hole. The path varies in line with the natural experiences, from rollable gravel, varied natural stone stairs, natural stone surfaces and coarser gravel. Especially the carved out natural stone stairs blend in seamlessly and beautifully with the impressive grey rocks along the pathway. In Hovdenuten, located in the lush and fertile south of Norway, Aksent Arkitekter designed a daytrip cabin in a vast, desolate and magnificent landscape. And for Vøringsfossen, being one of the Europe's highest waterfalls, Hølmebakk Øymo designed a beautiful fit for a great icon: landscaped paths and plateaus that protrude to let you enjoy the intense depths and incredible scenery in safety. Also part of this cahier: Designers Thoughts with Jane Wolff, and an essay by landscape architect Eleni Mente, in which she discusses how, by designing with natural, indigenous vegetation, natural disasters can be prevented in Japan.

It is a rich cahier in which we travel to inhospitable Norway and immerse ourselves in Japanese nature.
